Rhodesia, officially the Imperial Dominion of Rhodesia, is a landlocked country of the British Empire located in Southern-Central Africa. It is bordered by South Africa to the south, the Imperial Dominion of Bechuanaland to the southwest, Namibia and Angola to the west, Zaire and the Imperial Dominion of Tanganyika to the north, the Imperial Dominion of Nyasaland to the northeast, and Mozambique to the east. The capital and largest city is Lusaka in the North-Western Rhodesia region; the province's capital cities are Salisbury in the Southern Rhodesia region, Livingstone in the North-Western Rhodesia region, and Fort Jameson in North-Eastern Rhodesia. The British colonies of Northern and Southern Rhodesia became equal members of the British Empire with the signing of the Empire Act in 1938, and united to form the Imperial Dominion of Rhodesia in 1953.
