The IJN Shoho (Japanese: 祥鳳, "Auspicious Phoenix" or "Happy Phoenix") was a Zuiho-class light aircraft carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Shoho was laid down at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal on December 3rd 1934, launched on June 1st 1935 and finally commissioned on May 11th 1936.

During the Battle of Batavia on May 20th 1942, the Shoho launched its fighters in an effort to defend a battlegroup led by the Yamato. However eighteen Fairey Swordfish torpedo bombers managed to get through and attack the Yamato. Of the eighteen torpedoes launched, four hit damaging the Yamato.[1]
