Harder in the Mare Island

APNS Harder (SS-257) docked at Mare Island during an overhaul on February 7th, 1944.

The Gato-class submarines were a class of submarine in the American People's Navy during World War II. The Gato's name comes from a species of small catshark. Like most other American People's Navy submarines of the period, the Gato-class were given the names of marine creatures.
